EXENCELL Joined the Global Battery Alliance (GBA)

Sustainability 2023-10-20

EXENCELL was officially approved to join the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) to become a new member of the organization on September 27. The GBA was founded in 2017 at the World Economic Forum with the vision of fostering a circular, responsible, and just battery value chain by 2030. GBA provides a collaborative platform by focusing on battery passport, critical materials, and energy access & circularity, guiding members to achieve the shared goals of circularity, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

EU New Battery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1542) brought the battery passport under the spotlight, an instrument that contains not only battery and material data but also information on carbon footprint, human rights, and ESG. Apparently, on the way of greening and low-carbon, EXENCELL is actively implementing the mission "Empowering Green Energy":

1. The construction of the Mianyang Plant was based on the standard of zero carbon factory. It was certificated Net-Zero Carbon Building issued by TÜV Rheinland and BRE, which is the first factory project in China certified by these two institutions.

2. 280Ah LFP prismatic cell has certified UL9540A, UL1973, UL2580 and IEC62619/62620, all the certification of 314Ah LFP prismatic cell and of 34Ah LFP cylindrical cell will soon be obtained this year.

3. EXENCELL applied for the UN Global Compact in Sept 2023 and began product carbon footprint assessment in Nov 2023. We are expected to have ESG disclosure in Apr 2024.

All these actions demonstrate our determination to establish a sustainable and responsible battery value chain. Together with GBA and other members towards the shared goal of 2030, EXENCELL will actively participate in GBA-related projects and promote the objectives and concepts of the GBA to other partners in the supply chain, continuing contributing to a low carbon economy to steer toward a new stage of sustainable development.
