On October 27, the 2024 China Industrial Transfer and Development Activity (Gansu Province) with the theme of "Sharing New National Strategic Opportunities and Jointly Building a New Industrial Pattern in the Western China" launched in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, a place with unlimited new energy and infinite scenery. In Gansu, the developable capacity of wind energy is 560 million kilowatts and that of photovoltaic energy is 9.5 billion kilowatts, ranking 4th and 5th respectively in China, and installed capacity of new energy accounts for more than 63%, ranking 2nd in China. Mr. HUANG, CPC Working Committee deputy secretary & Director of the Management Committee of Jinchang economic and technological development zone in Lanzhou City said, with the strategic deployment of the western development drive and eastern China industrial transfer, based on Jinchang’s advantages and characteristics, Jinchang will make every effort to promote the value chain of non-ferrous metal new materials to premium level, make new energy battery and battery material industry be connected throughout the whole value chain, accelerate the layout of future industries such as hydrogen energy and low-altitude economy, and cultivate and develop new quality productivity forces with Jinchang characteristics.
EXENCELL explores a win-win road with disruptive innovation of energy storage production and sales model. EXENCELL and China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited jointly implemented a whole industry chain battery factory project in Jinchang, which is known as city of nickel, from battery cell production to energy storage system to battery recycling and raw material lithium carbonate. This project demonstrates Jinchang’s resource advantages, such as a raw material self-sufficiency rate of up to 87% and abundant wind energy, China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited’s advantages of technical experience in wind power development of new energy construction and the advantages of sales channels with numerous energy storage needs, as well as EXENCELL's advantages of battery manufacturing process with pursuit of excellence and the advantages of the whole industry chain with battery recycling. By integrating all these advantages, a production and sales model with virtuous cycle which includes sales-driven production, production-supported taxes, tax-promoted wind energy, and wind-energy-created sales can be created.
The project has been supported by the Jinchuan District Government of Jinchang City and China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited during the implementation. This is the recognition from the government and China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited about the new cooperation model, as well as the recognition about EXENCELL's products and the operation model of whole industry chain from battery cells to recycling. This cooperation will become the starting point for EXENCELL to tap into the western China desert market in the context of building a new power market with the industrial transfer from the east to the west. It is an important step towards the grid-scale energy storage market.
